The mission and vision of Crystal Bridges places the enjoyment of learning about art
and art history at the center of the visitor experience. Excellent and accessible educational
programs and learning strategies will be strategically positioned for visitors of all ages.
Of primary importance will be the development of innovative new techniques, processes,
and modalities to deliver the finest educational experiences both on-site and off.
The Museum’s educational mission will deliver compelling learning modalities through four comprehensive program areas:
- Public Programs will provide exciting touring options, in-depth workshops, festivals,
educational events, and activities for adults &
seniors and youth & families at the Museum by using docent delivered dialogic tours,
hands-on projects, cutting edge technologies, and the latest in gallery-based practices.
- School Programs will serve early learners, K-12,
homeschoolers, and college/university students, educators and school
administrators through dynamic gallery-based programming, distance learning opportunities,
professional development workshops, after school initiatives, and meaningful curriculum resources.
- Communities Program will provide three different tiers of outreach – regional, national
and international that will serve programs for youth, adults, and seniors in partnership with
other cultural, social, health, educational, and judicial organizations through residencies,
artmaking activities, art appreciation games, and other experiential opportunities at different community sites.
- Professional Program will serve the serious learner through a variety of specialized
certificate-granting institutes in collaboration with colleges, universities and businesses
that will use the Museum’s collections and exhibitions in profound new ways.
The Museum is designing an interactive space for visitors to explore and learn about art,
discover new ways of looking at art, and experience world-class works of art from a fresh perspective.
This space will serve as a launching pad for visitors to approach the galleries with confidence
and level of comfort as it encourages repeat visitation.
Public Programs, School Programs, Communities Programs and Professional Programs will all develop
Web-based informational pages, interactive, and engagement tools that speak to their very different
audiences and extends programming into rural and urban sites throughout the State of Arkansas, the country and the world.
The Museum is also developing a significant library of American art and other notable resources
accessible to museum professionals, art scholars and university-level students. Offerings will include
art periodicals, on-line art research subscription services, and art history survey publications. An art reference
library will be developed to support a wide range of audiences from fine arts and art history students to the general public.
