The Crystal Bridges Overlook provides a multi-level stone seating area on the west side of the ravine overlooking the Museum. The Overlook, which was designed by Crystal Bridges Director of Trails and Grounds Scott Eccleston, features two curved seating areas that offer views of the Museum campus to both the north and south.
The structure is integrated into the natural hillside and landscaped with redbud and dogwood trees. Its organic shape is meant to complement the curved architecture of the Museum’s buildings, designed by Moshe Safdie.
The Overlook is accessible via a natural surface trail that connects to the Crystal Bridges Trail, a little more than half a mile from the trailhead on NE 3rd Street. (The Overlook is just north of the former site of the Construction Observation Deck, now demolished).
The trail to the Overlook is also accessible from the parking and public rest area located on N.E. A street.
