Homeschool Friday Fun!

This program is designed for families who want to provide their homeschool students with enriching and fun activities that incorporate inquiry, discovery, and studio art-making. We will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. the first Friday of the month, from March through June. The program includes 30 minutes in the gallery, followed by 90 minutes in the art studio. There is a materials fee of $5 per child. Space is limited so please register in advance for this program.

Faces of the Nation
Learn about the diverse individuals that make up this nation through their portraits. After you learn in the galleries, you will have the chance to create your own portrait of someone you believe should be remembered throughout history.

Poetry and Art
Celebrate National Poetry Month by exploring several works of art in the collection, including the poetically inspired Kindred Spirits by Asher Brown Durand. Then create your own unique poem inspired by a work of art in the collection.

Art and Nature
Celebrate spring by discovering works of art inspired by nature. From traditional landscapes to Roxy Paine's stainless steel sculpture Yield, artists have always been informed by the natural world. In the studio, you will create your own artwork inspired by nature.

In the Round
In addition to sculptures throughout the galleries, Crystal Bridges has wonderful sculptures on its grounds. This indoor and outdoor tour will explore different types of sculpture, from bronze castings to marble carvings. In the studio, participants will create their own three-dimensional work of art using additive and reductive processes.
